Magnificent goddess |

She has looked on Balkan for 10 years
Besides Slobo and Bill, also Clara pulled the strings
Clara Schumann, the famous German pianist and composer,
was posthumous not only one of the most influential personalities
in German-speaking countries, but particularly on the Balkans. She
was on the head of the most popular bank-note in south-east Europe
- 100 DM bank-note. Clara Schumann became thereby for the inhabitants
of the Balkans a kind of icon, which this year unfortunately said
good-bye. Since the native currencies had lost the trustworthiness
because of galloping inflation, Clara Schumann became the ruling
goddess.
BANK-NOTE 100DM
She saw everything
Her glance, her eyes and careful smile were permanent present in
subconscious of the Balkan people. While in Germany and other western
countries the conversion to Euro is rather pragmatically experienced,
the feeling of the distrust and the disaster outweighs on the Balkan
because of Clara's disappearing.

"A great talent on the Balkans is the 28 year-old Serbian painter
Ivana Jaksic, who gave Clara Schumann a new dimension, by painting
the note highly increased on 2 meters high oil pictures in a hair-fine
arduous 4 years' work (without computers). Ivana "zoomed" into Clara
inside that some pictures represent face parts, others slide into
abstraction. "

Born in Belgrade 1973. Graduated at the Faculty of Fine Arts in
Belgrade in 1996 in the class of Prof. Radomir Reljic. Finished
post-graduate studies with the same professor in 1998. Several group
and two individual exhibitions in Belgrade. Several Awards.

"Kraljevic Marko" - the prince Marko is a historical personality
from the Serbian Middle Ages, who became a myth of the invincible
hero.
In the time, when Ivana prepared its exhibition, Serbia was direct
hinterland of the war. The stylised-ironical figure of the king
prince Marko expresses Ivana's anti-war attitude and protest.

In cooperation with Ivan Ristic, an art
historian living in Vienna, TOLIKAS tries to organize an exhibition
for Ivana Jaksic.
